When I left the 9-5 grind to stay at home with my son I knew that I would try to find some work to do from home. What I didn’t know was that the options would be seemingly endless. In fact, some business that I was in contact with were actually specifically looking for stay-at-home moms.
Since then, I’ve been keeping track of all the amazing options out there for every type of background, because honestly I think everyone should have the opportunity to work from wherever they want – especially if it’s to be able to stay at home with their kids. So, for the teachers, educators, and infopreneurs out there, this list is for you. Some are so unbelievable that you can make way more from home than you ever could in a classroom (seriously).

Deciding that you want to start a blog is sooo exhilarating. I will never forget how excited I was to start MBA sahm. And I would loooove for other people to feel that way too! So I’m going lay it all out there and tell you how to start a blog in 10 easy steps. The good news is that it isn’t expensive to start one (and if you’re not worried about making money it can be totally free). The bad news is that it’s probably way more work than you think it is. BUT it is unbelievably fulfilling and gratifying work. It’s a real business that you’ll be running just like any other start-up.
So roll up your sleeves, entrepreneur, here we go! Here’s how to start a blog that you will love and will make you money:
I love this question. I know it sounds weird, but I ask myself all the time – What would you do with $10 million, Nikki? And then I make a list. Usually with a glass of wine after everyone’s gone to bed. I know it sounds indulgent, but it’s really not. In fact, I think it’s a really, really important question that everyone needs to ask themselves on a regular basis – What would you do with $10 million?
Why waste time imagining a life you don’t have, you ask?
Images are everything these days. And unfortunately one or two good ones on your website or blog just won’t do the trick. So it is essential to have a pool of amazing, high quality free stock photos at your disposal so that you can spend your money on things that aren’t free.
Some of these are my favorite go-to image sites and others were great discoveries that I came across researching for this post. With this list, there is definitely no need to pay for photos anymore! Good luck.
I love, love, love things that save time and make life easier (who doesn’t?). I’m always on the lookout for cool gadgets, awesome life hacks, and basically anything that helps me get more things done with less time and effort. So it should come as no surprise that I’m a sucker for anything that enables you to automate your life. As the saying goes – set it and forget it!
Automation is one of the best way to build wealth, increase your productivity through the day, and now it even helps me clean the house (seriously!). Believe it or not, it’s also a great way to save money and just live a happier life.
So it’s time to share! These are all the ways that I automate my life…and a few extras that I should be doing (or wish I could do):
The holidays are so close that I can almost taste them and that has me excited for so many different reasons, one of which is that I consistently make the most Zazzle sales over the holiday season (and you know how much I love making money on Zazzle). No matter what you do, odds are in your favor that you’ll make more this time of year just because people are shopping so much. But there are still some things that you can do to prepare your Zazzle store to increase your sales even more.
Almost every single week I face the same problem: What the heck am I going to write about? Some weeks are easier than others, but there are those times that I can’t think of a single thing. So I desperately search for ideas and inspiration. Which brought me here…because I KNOW I can’t possibly be the only Mom blogger that hits writer’s block and just needs some good ideas.
So here’s my ultimate list of all the great post ideas for your mom blog. I’ll keep adding to the list, so check back if you hit the wall again. Take my advice though: try and make it as specific as possible. Many of these ideas could be broken into 3 or 4 different posts. The internet may be saturated by some of the hottest topics, but if you can make it unique you may just have come up with your next viral post.
I love, love, love free stuff. Soooo, so much. If it’s free, I’ll definitely give it a try. No matter what. Of course, sometimes I get what I pay for and it sucks. But then I will eventually stumble upon a gem that I can’t get enough of. The kind of thing that I can’t believe is free and then I become totally hooked.
So obviously through my years of entrepreneurial pursuits I’ve gathered some pretty amazing free tools that help me do whatever it is I’m passionate about at the moment. These are those tools. Some might not be strictly business, but as we all know, when you’re an entrepreneur your life and business become so intertwined that at times they are indistinguishable. Which is the BEST part of being an entrepreneur.
So here we go! The absolute best free tools for entrepreneurs:
As you already know, I love love love using Zazzle as a creative outlet…and of course, to make a little extra money 🙂 . So when a new and somewhat odd product is introduced, I usually jump on it right away to see what I can create. And to my delight, occasionally these products actually make me some money. Which I LOVE.
I know this sounds ridiculously corny, so I’m hesitant to even write an entire post about it, but I’m telling you – this one simple activity is how my husband and I have (and are) achieving all of our dreams in record timing. It’s why I’m able to stay at home with my son, how we bought two investment properties, are learning a second language, have spent our summer traveling, have become vegan, the list goes on and on…
So here’s the really simplistic, dumbed-down gist of how we’ve made it all happen: Every few months (if we’re lucky, weeks), we sit down and formally Goal Set. I’m emphasizing formally and capitalizing Goal Set on purpose – it’s that big of a deal and that big of an event for us…it’s better than a date night (actually, we love it so much that it basically is a date night). But most importantly, it consistently and reliably always works – sometimes it’s scary how much so.
So here’s what we do, and how you can (and should) do it too:
