The Virginia Living Museum: Williamsburg’s Other Best Attraction

The Virginia Living Museum was one of the best things to do with toddlers in Williamsburg! I'm so glad we found it.

Last month I had planned a trip down to Williamsburg for my family, but for some reason didn’t think about the weather.  So as a heat wave rolled through with 110 degree days, I had to scramble quickly to find something with air conditioning, or at least more shade….bonus points if you could entertain my 3-year old and let me roll through with a double stroller.

What a blessing in disguise that heat was!  We happened upon the Virginia Living Museum and it ended up being one of the best children’s museums we’d ever been to.

Not only did it have my prerequisite air conditioning and ample stroller space, but the interaction it provided for my 3-year old was out of this world!  With both indoor and outdoor exhibits, we were occupied for the whole morning.

How to Cut Your Packing in Half When Traveling with a Baby

How to Cut the Packing in Half When Traveling with a Baby

Traveling with a baby is no small endeavor. Yes, they’re tiny. But holy moly, their stuff certainly is not.

My husband and I travel all the time with our baby. Over the summer it’s often every weekend. So we’ve come across some great tricks, tips, and work-arounds that make the process easier.

The name of the game is obvious: figure out what you don’t need and find the most space-saving version of what you do need. I was advised to look into something like best bottles for travel, as it saves you a lot of stress when going out with your baby, especially if they are breastfeeding or using a bottle. (more…)

7 Reasons to Consider Disney World for Your Babymoon

Disney World is one of the best choices for a babymoon!

It’s been quite some time since my husband and I had our Disney Babymoon, but I still remember it well and feel warm and fuzzy every time I come across something Disney-related. Not only did we have an amazing time, but it was a fabulous way to start what will most likely be decades of Disney trips ahead of us.  As far as Babymoons go, it was the perfect choice for a last hoorah and one that I will always recommend to parents-to-be.

So before you settle on yet another Caribbean getaway, consider these reasons for choosing a Disney Babymoon instead:

Your Next Philadelphia Day Trip: The Crayola Experience

The Crayola Experience is such an amazing Philadelphia day trip for your toddler! If you're in the area, you have to check it out!

When we were invited by friends to join them at The Crayola Experience, I was so excited for a new Philadelphia day trip to enjoy with our little guy.  I had memories of The Crayola Experience (though at that time we called it The Crayola Factory), but none of my memories compared to what it is now.  What an amazing trip!  I’m not exaggerating a bit when I tell you this was just as amazing for a 2 ½ year old as Philadelphia’s Please Touch Museum – it was that cool!

The Crayola Experience is located in Easton, so it’s a bit of a drive for some of the Philly suburbs (it took us 1 ½ hrs.), but there’s so much to do there that it’s well worth the drive. We were also pleasantly surprised by how nice Easton was, so there’s lots of restaurants and shops to keep you busy if you want to hang around after The Crayola Experience.  We were there on a Saturday and a huge farmer’s market was set up right in the center of town, so check to see if that will be there!  It was a lot of fun.

8 Space-Saving Baby Products for Travelers and Small Home Dwellers

As small home dwellers and frequent travelers, my husband and I have developed somewhat of an expertise for getting around with our baby.  When you’re in close quarters with a little one, you basically have no choice but to be creative (or depend on the creativity of others), so we’ve come across some amazing space-saving baby products and gadgets that make life waaaaay easier.

Some of these were amazing gifts, some we discovered out of desperation, and some were just plain dumb luck.  But ALL of them have proved to be essential and/or quite a relief in our day-to-day lives or travels.

The Please Touch Museum: Philadelphia’s #1 Destination for Toddlers

I knew about The Please Touch Museum long before I was even pregnant with my son (my husband and I had our wedding there!), but I was pretty sure it was best for 4, 5, or 6 year olds, so I had pushed off taking my toddler. Holy moly, was I ever wrong.  This place is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for toddlers.  If I was closer, I would be there every single week.  Since heading there for the first time with him, I’ve been on a hunt for other children’s museums that compare and haven’t found anything even remotely close.

So if you’re in the area or live in the suburbs like I do, you need to make sure you take your toddler to the Please Touch Museum the second they’re comfortable walking.  There are so many things to do with little guys (and older too) that I guarantee you’ll want to come back again and again.
