From the second I came across the concept of hygge, I was hooked. And since it goes hand-in-hand with holidays, I can’t wait to have a hygge Easter this year!
Easter is hands down one of my favorite holidays and it’s perfect for adding hygge. So many critical hygge concepts (family, outdoors, food) are already present in Easter, so hygge-fying it is not only easy, it’s also fun.
Being a stay-at-home mom is a blessing…that can sometimes feel like a curse. You get to experience every beautiful moment of your child’s life…along with every miserable one. You get to create the home of your dreams…and witness its daily destruction and resurrection.
It’s fulfilling, inspiring, and exciting…but it’s also thankless, degrading, and lonely. So sometimes you just need something to help you be a happier SAHM.
So when you’re having one of those moments where you just need to hit the reset button, try one of these ideas! They will help you refresh, perk up, and be a happier you.
My son is a seriously, seriously picky eater. He has been for…well, basically forever. The agony of trying to get new foods in him is something I never imagined! And for every hour I spend trying to get him to eat new foods, I spend another hour convincing myself that pretzels might actually be nutritious.
I don’t like forcing him, which is fine because that never works anyways. So over the past few years I have tried tons of strategies to get him to eat more. Some have worked, some have failed. What I can tell you is that I have yet to find a magic bullet that can transform my picky eater into a foodie. So don’t beat yourself up if your child only eats goldfish and bread. It’s not ideal, but it’s also not unusual. You’re not alone!
So the strategies that you’re about to read are what have worked for a picky eater who is still a picky eater – but with a little more variety. Because this is reality!

I’ll be honest. When my son started preschool this year, the last thing on my mind was what the heck I’d do with all his artwork. In fact, I couldn’t wait to see what he’d bring home! I had the magnets ready and oo’ed and ah’ed at his initial creations.
Then they kept coming.
And coming and coming.
I swear, he has 4 art classes a day!
So it wasn’t long before my husband confronted me. The artwork had to find a home. One that wasn’t the kitchen table, kitchen counter, or family room end table.
And he was right. Within weeks, the artwork had taken over the house. I wasn’t willing to part with it (obviously). So that left one option – figure out what to do with it.
There’s no way around it – having a husband that travels a lot sucks. Big time. It can be lonely, tiring, and frustrating.
But I’ve quickly realize that I can either fight it or embrace it, and fighting it is often useless.
My husband travels a lot for work – almost every single week. It’s not the ideal scenario for me, but he loves his job and it gives me the opportunity to stay at home with my kids instead of working – so I’m definitely not going to fight it. That leaves…embracing it.
So here are the tricks I’ve come up with along the way that make the situation happier, easier, and more enjoyable. And for those that are new to having a traveling husband…I promise you, it does get easier (I know you think it won’t!). (more…)
Daily affirmations are one of the easiest and quickest ways to completely change your life for the better. They allow you to create your own reality, transform your future, and do things you never thought you could, should, or deserved to do. They are LIFE-CHANGING.
And it is the simplest thing you will ever do. You just have to do it.
I know they may sound crazy, but I’m telling you, THIS WORKS. Think of the most successful people in the world and I guarantee they use some form of daily affirmations in their life.
I love, love, love things that save time and make life easier (who doesn’t?). I’m always on the lookout for cool gadgets, awesome life hacks, and basically anything that helps me get more things done with less time and effort. So it should come as no surprise that I’m a sucker for anything that enables you to automate your life. As the saying goes – set it and forget it!
Automation is one of the best way to build wealth, increase your productivity through the day, and now it even helps me clean the house (seriously!). Believe it or not, it’s also a great way to save money and just live a happier life.

If you’ve already heard of Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, then you probably don’t think I’m crazy. Otherwise, I imagine you’re wondering why the heck you should spend your time reading a book about “tidying up.” Either way, I PROMISE you will absolutely love this book. While it is certainly 100% about cleaning up, it somehow manages to also be a truly inspirational book that promises to transform your life (i.e. by tidying up your home you will ultimately tidy up your problems).
So our taxes have been filed and I’m waiting, waiting, waiting for our money. I have SO many things that I want to do with it! As I wait, I’ve of course been making a list of all of the things I’d like – and I figured, why not make a list of all of the things that everyone should have? Not just stuff, but the items that end up being a truly amazing lifestyle upgrade.
So here it is! Some of these I know from experience, some I’m just hoping will be as amazing as I imagine.
Last year I wrote an article about staying happy while your spouse is traveling and, much to my delight, it ended up being pretty popular. It turns out I’m far from the only wife that finds herself home alone while her husband is off working afar.
My tricks for staying happy have always been lifesavers for me, but the past few months have proven to be extra challenging. My son is getting more active, but the real challenge has just been the winter and limited daylight. Getting outdoors, being active at night, and even just keeping flowers around the house can be EXTRA challenging.
So, I’ve been on a mission to figure out new ways to cheer myself up and keep motivated while my husband is away. The original list still applies, so be sure to check it out here, but if you’re still finding yourself down and out, hopefully some of these will help. 🙂
