Two years ago around this time I was a brand new mom. My little baby had all the cutest little holiday outfits with bow ties and suspenders, reindeer and santa hats, booties and mittens. He was decked out in all the “essential” holiday gear. I, on the other hand, found myself desperate for my own essentials – ones I was caught off guard to be needing.
So, as a former holiday season new mom, I can tell you there definitely are gifts you are itching to get when you’ve got a brand new baby on your hands. Things you didn’t realize you needed or just didn’t prioritize.
Here are the new mom gifts that I loved (or wished I would have had): (more…)
My son is a November baby, so every year I get a special preview of all the great gift ideas before Christmas arrives. We do our best to save some of the big surprises for Christmas morning, but how can you resist an early gift?? This year we celebrated the big number 2. I know, crazy! 🙂
So, for all the parents, grandparents, and aunts & uncles that are wondering what to get for a 2 year-old boy, here’s how to be the favorite this year!

Guess what, Dads – you’re not the only ones that love gadgets, robots, and the newest tech devices. We moms also have a soft spot for the world of technology and a definite love of anything that makes life a little easier. So if you’re wondering what to get your wife, mom, or sister, consider some of these tech-infused gift ideas.
I got lucky with a son who absolutely loves to read and look at books, but that love of reading doesn’t seem to translate into an appreciation for keeping the books in good condition. So, for the time being, we’re only using board books so that he can use them however he likes (and for the most part, they have proven to be indestructible). Luckily, it has turned out that board books aren’t that expensive either, so I’ve been able to get most of them in the $3 range on Amazon.
So if you’re looking for a good gift idea for your toddler or just need some new inspiration to get them using new words, try out these board books that have been big winners in our house:
I can’t wait to share these Easter basket ideas for 1-year old boys! This Easter will be a special one for our family. While it won’t technically be the first Easter for my son, it will be the first one that he can really enjoy – and the first time I get to put together an Easter basket for him!
I’m certainly not planning on spending a lot – but I want it to be fun and I want to see his excitement. I’m also going to be avoiding the classic Easter chocolates and candies (for obvious reasons).
So here are my Easter basket ideas for 1-year old boys! And of course a few toys and supplies that I’ve recently gotten for him that he LOVES (so that I can pass on the good fortune to you!).

Technically it isn’t hard to find gifts for a 1-year old boy. There are thousands and thousands of options. BUT…that doesn’t mean that they’ll like your gift – or that their parents will.
My husband and I have the “luxury” of a child with a November birthday, so we get a double whammy of gifts each year for his birthday and Christmas. With so much out there it can be really hard to know what is actually worth a purchase, so I’ve done the leg work for you and tested out just about every product under the sun.
